NCQ NEWS

GREAT FOOD, FELLOWSHIP AND FUN… THANKS TO ECC… (10/06/09)
The members of NCQ wish to send our sincerest appreciation to the pastor, church secretary and the membership of Eastside Christian Church for their willingness to host NC this past Sunday. We hope the congregation was blessed by our (well, the Lord’s) songs and we thoroughly loved the fellowship and friendliness shown to us by your people. Last, but not least… we “thank you” for the feast prepared and shared with us after the morning service. It was awesome & you guys have some very good cooks in your church membership.

PERSONNEL CHANGES… (9/27/09)
One of the toughest things about larger ministries where there are singers plus musicians is that it seems like there’s a constant change of personnel. Of course… the good news is that the Lord needs these people elsewhere… to minister to others at the work place… to be more active in their churches… even to do the Lord’s work in other country’s. No matter what calling they receive, upon their departure from NC… they’r always missed. Due to God’s plans for various folks who’ve been a part of NC over the past few years, there have been a couple of vacancies that still exist and we’re patiently waiting for the Lord to provide. We still seek a keyboardist and a drummer. Interested persons need to be Christians and need to have received God’s call to serve Him in this way. If you are someone who can play drums or keys… contact us to inquire about these opportunities.

NEW CITY IS LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO RING IN 2010… (9/16/09)
In the relatively short existence of the New City Qt’t (which began singing for the Lord in January, 2007) It’s never worked out where NCQ could be a part of a New Years Eve, “Watch Service”. We know it’s over 3 months away and everyone has to get through autumn’s colors… through Thanksgiving… and through Christmas… but clearly, New Years Eve is getting closer by the day. If your local church is contemplating the idea of hosting a New Years Eve service on 12-31-09 and might consider inviting a gospel singing group to be a part of the evening’s festivities… visit our “contact us” page and take that first step towards organizing an exciting, fun-loving and Christ based event to kick off 2010.

COMINGS & GOINGS OF PIANISTS… (8/30/09)
Today’s concerts will be Susan Henry’s last with the NCQ as she’s about to relocate to England with her (Missionary) husband. We’re planning a going away party for her on Monday evening and no doubt there’ll be more than a few hugs and tears as we say our “good-byes”. But… as He always does… (in His time…) the Lord has been good to send us an interim pianist… one that listeners are sure to enjoy. NCQ is proud to introduce our current pianist; Thelma Patterson. Thelma has been working behind the scenes with us for a few weeks now and will take over the piano duties effective next week. Please make her welcome at our upcoming services and programs

SEEKING: BASS GUITARIST… (8/25/09)
New City has auditioned 2-3 bass players over the past few weeks and for one good & valid reason or another, no one’s really worked out… yet. So, please keep our bassist vacancy in your prayers as we continue to seek the bassist that God has selected as our next one. Additionally, if you know of a bassist who needs a ministry, please send him our way. Thanks… and no… unfortunately… there’ll be no “finders fees” paid!!!

BACK TO THE RECORDING STUDIO… (8/20/09)
When NCQ finished their Christmas CD last fall, we were thrilled to finish that project and after completing 3 projects in the course of 8 months… we were glad to get out of the studio for a while… and into various churches and venues to sing for the Lord. The CD’s were a job well done… and all 3 CD’s were liked for a myriad of reasons. But, time has passed & tomorrow… NCQ begins it’s “next” project, which is scheduled to be completed early next month and available to gospel music fans by mid October. The newest project, simply titled; “Gloryland” can be pre-ordered from our “Store” page of our website (with a discount) and concert goers can purchase discounted “pre-released” copies beginning August 30th. More information about the new project is available on our store page, which you can access by clicking here!

HEAVEN GAINS AN OUTSTANDING PREACHER… (8/07/09)
The vast majority of NCQ’s latest news entries are upbeat and positive. Today’s is not. There’s no easy or positive way to say this but, the Lord’s army lost a tremendous soldier last night. Pastor Chuck Cavendish III; passed away last night as a result of a massive heart attack. He was only 44 years old. Pastor Cavendish was the pastor of the ‘One-Way Christian Church’ in Beech Grove, IN where New City had just sang a couple of weeks earlier. ‘One-Way’ is also the home church of NCQ’s lead vocalist, Rick Clayton. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Cavendish family and with those at ‘One-Way’ who will surely miss an outstanding man of God.

INTERIM TENOR MAKING AN IMPRESSION ON LISTENERS… (7/18/09)
As most regular listeners of NCQ music and/or visitors to this site know, the NCQ lost an outstanding tenor vocalist a couple of months ago in Dennis Steele. Dennis’s day job has expanded and he’s also trying to spend more time with the family and we pray that things are going well for him and his wife & kids. In the meantime, NCQ has not found Dennis’s replacement but, the interim that’s been singing the part has garnered more than a few fans. Sara Howe… Craig’s (our baritone’s) daughter has been singing the part until God sends along our next tenor and we’ve had several people ask about which CD(s) she has sang on. NCQ has had a couple of gentlemen express interest in our vacancy and we hope to make a decision on a replacement vocalist in the next 30-45 days.
